Pirates can't handle Bearcats

Crookston ended its two-match win streak with a 3-1 loss to Kittson County Central on Thursday evening at Crookston High School gymnasium. The Pirates jumped out to a 1-0 lead on the Class A school but dropped the next three games in the loss. The Class AA Pirates fall back to an even 2-2 overall, while the Bearcats have won 3-of-4 matches to start the season.
Lyczewski wins Ernotte Hiller Memorial

Mark Lyczewski was up two with two holes to play before rain forced the Ernotte Hiller Memorial Golf Tournament to be put on hold. Play resumed on Tuesday afternoon with Lyczewski and James Need halving the eighth hole at Minakwa to give Lyczewski back the title he held in 2004.

Dominic LeBlanc was the lucky winner of a 2009 single membership at Minakwa Golf Club. As part of the Crookston Noon Day Lions Hole-in-One Shoot-Out one raffle ticket was chosen at random for the membership. Proceeds from the Hole-in-One Shoot-Out went to the new picnic shelter at the Highland Complex. Approximately $2,500 was raised during the event.
